A coast you don't just visit, you take part in
Tsunza-Mwache is a tidal peninsula of mangrove creek, fishing villages, palm groves and sacred forests. Spend a day here and you fish by the tide, plant a mangrove, taste food pounded and grated by hand, and sit with dancers whose drums keep the community's time.
It is real life on the coast, shared by the people who live it, and every visit helps keep the mangroves and the culture standing.

The dances here are prayers and celebrations, not a show put on for visitors. You are welcomed into Rawawe, kayamba, ngoma ya mlungu and mdundiko, the same dances the community holds for rain, harvest and marriage.
Around them sit the crafts, the food and the sacred kayas: weaving, carving, pounding and winnowing, herbal knowledge, and forests that have been protected for generations.

Frequently asked questions
- What can I do on a tour?Sail a dhow across the creek, fish with traditional gear, plant mangroves, share a meal cooked the local way, and watch dances like Rawawe, kayamba, ngoma ya mlungu and mdundiko. Experiences span fishing, culture, food, conservation and eco-learning.
- Where does the money go?Straight to the community. Guides, cooks, dance troupes and craftspeople are paid directly, and every tour plants mangroves, with Ksh 100 of each seedling going to the nursery.
- How do I get there?Most experiences leave by boat from Mkupe jetty in Mombasa and cross to the Tsunza-Mwache peninsula in Kwale County. A few eco-learning days are reached by road. We confirm the meeting point and tide-dependent timing when you book.
- Is ComTouch only about tourism?No. Eco-tourism is how visitors experience the coast and how the work is funded, but our mission is restoring mangroves and building sustainable coastal livelihoods, alongside research and conservation.
- When is the best time to visit?Experiences run year-round, timed to the daily tide. The annual Ngoma ya Mulungu event at Kaya Chonyi is booked between January and February for arrival in late March.
